I have arrived!!
It was a long journey. I left Beeston at 7.00am and finally pulled into Thurso at 9.45pm. In the end the travelling was OK, but it got a bit tense when the Derby train to Edinburgh train was running 20 minutes late. If I has missed my one and only connection, I would have ended up staying the night in Inverness. As it was I just made all the connections.
The weather is a bit scary. As I passed through the border into Scotland, the weather cooled a few degrees and the rain and wind started. It was still cool when I got to Thurso, but at least the sky's had cleared.
As the days continue I am going to compile a "What I forgot" list and a "What I have lost" list Things are looking good already. See below.
Forgotten Items | Lost Items |
Any form of ID (driving license / passport) e.t.c | Reading Book, bought in WH Smiths at 7.30, lost in Edinbugrh in the mad dash across the station |
Pen knife - needed for removing stones from horses hooves and bicyles | What HIFI magazine. Ditto for the above, just getting into the exiting bits about amps and receivers. I'll have to buy another copy. Don't tell Rosie! |
I took a few picture on the way up, and when I get more time will try and put then on the page.
Plans for tommorow are a relaxed start. Cycle to John O' Groats and back, probably in the rain, and then do some washing. I have found a nice bar and an Indian, so that is probably tea and supper.
Speak to you soon Phil
