The Somerset
Flats...
After another nice Breakfast, we checked out of the Hotel at 9.30 and
headed off to the train station so that Rosie could catch the 10.00am train
back to Nottingham.
I left Rosie at the Station and set off for Taunton. I told you about the
fast down hill free wheel into Bristol, so that could only mean one thing;
the slow steep ascent back out of Bristol, and so it proved to be.
The first fifteen mile or so were very hilly, but once I got
out of Bristol and then North Somerset the terrain flattened out. The
steepest hills in Somerset proper were the bridges crossing the M5.
Again I sat motorbikes everywhere and a few caravans too.
The day was very straight forward. I followed the A38 all the way to
Taunton until I reached town. On the way in I passed a Travel Inn attached
to a Beafeater Restaurant and since this was on the right side of town for
tomorrow I checked in.
I am always worried about leaving the bicycle where it can be nicked so
when I asked what secure storage they had, the lad behind the check in desk
suggested I stored in my room. I thought this only happened in the wild
west.
It was fairly early, probably 2.30pm so after the usual clothes washing I
had a nap, before having a nice Sunday lunch in the Beefeater!! You can't
beat a relaxed Sunday.
That was it really, watched a bit of telly and had an early
night...
