Homeward
Bound…
Job done, so I had no need to get up early. I crawled out of bed at 9.00am
and packed for the last time. I left the hostel and headed into town. My
original plan was to have some breakfast and then find an internet café and
update the web page. However with my late start and problems with finding
somewhere to park my bike (and bags), I decided to abandon breakfast and
have a Cornish Pasty instead.
I located an internet café just off the high street and set about
catching up on the last four days pages. It took me some time, and so 3
hours later I headed toward the station to catch my train, with bags and
bike recovered. The train left at 2.00pm and I would finally pull into
Beeston at 10.00pm.
The train journey went with no incident, it just seemed very slow. The
train pulled into Taunton at 5.30pm in time to catch the 5.51pm Derby train.
This train finally pulled into Derby at 8.45pm which meant I had just
missed the 8.40pm Derby to Beeston train. I had to wait an hour to catch
the 9.41pm train which finally got me into Beeston for 10.00pm.
I had a quick pint and a small glass of champagne to celebrate before cycling
the last mile home.
It was a long day, but I had a grin on my face for all of it. Looking
back, it has been a very successful undertaking, and I am very proud and
pleased to accomplish it.
As an aside, I weighed myself just before updating this page, and I now
weight 17 stone 2 pounds. So I have lost just under 1 stone (12 pounds to
be exact) in weight, Hurrah!!
